+3 Architecture provide specialist consultancy skills in workplace and organisational performance – called Performance +. This service enables clients to understand and capitalize on a vital dynamic that drives organizational performance; the relationship between people and the design of physical place. With staff costs equating to approximately 80% of corporate expenditure and property costs just 8%, it is clear that the greatest investment impact is to be gained in creating inspiring environments that benefit the organisation’s critical asset and cost item i.e. its people.
Our work demonstrates that positive changes involving people and place can deliver tangible and sustainable business and shareholder value. This is particularly relevant at a time when many organisations (in both the public and private sector) are looking to rationalise and consolidate their operations and estates.
Performance + positions the organisation, rather than the building at the heart of the project and the outcome of the work is not necessarily a new building but a transformation of the way people work and how space can be used. Finding new ways of working can liberate staff to work independently of time and space.
Performance + seeks to get under the skin of an organisation (i.e. their strategy, processes, people and property) and construct their space around these specific needs and activities rather than the more conventional approach of fitting the organisation into a generic space.
- Help to support and deliver Vision and Strategy;
- Strengthen Corporate Identity;
- Reduce the need for and cost of physical workspace;
- Reduce energy usage and associated running costs;
- Meet the physical, spatial and cultural needs of staff;
- Improve job satisfaction, staff retention and recruitment;
- Maximise the performance of individuals, teams and departments; and
- Improve the delivery of services.
These services provide a strong evidence base for design work and an opportunity to improve people performance not just building performance.
Every organisation is unique with its own particular eco-system and DNA. Organisations are in a continual state of flux and at any one time it can be subject to changes driven by economics, politics, demographics and technology. The quest for organisational performance can be a complicated process so we have developed an holistic approach that identifies the 3 primary drivers that underpin organisational performance. Namely, the cultural environment (the organisation and its people), the physical environment (buildings and spaces) and the technological environment (processes and systems).
The challenges and opportunities for every organisation will be different so we have developed a flexible approach and supporting methodologies to ensure that our service is targeted, efficient and effective.
Way of Working
Our service has been specifically designed to assist organisations in understanding and managing the process of change and empowering them as a result. We believe in creating long term relationships with all of our clients and adopt a collaborative, personal approach in order to build trust and respect and generate an environment that supports creativity, innovation and positive change.
We adopt a pro-active approach to engagement with a focus on listening, learning and sharing. We have developed our own unique tools and methodologies to carry out this work which include research, auditing, interviews, questionnaires, workshops and benchmarking and form part of a carefully programmed, iterative process that requires commitment and time from the entire project team. Our involvement often extends from the initial discovery and orientation phase, through the evaluation, design and implementation phase – but also beyond delivery into a review phase to ensure that lessons learned can be fed back into the organisation to drive continual improvement in organisational performance.
